PulseViewer for Avalon
A Windows app for repair benches and mining farms that service Canaan Avalon miners. Type a miner's IP address: PulseViewer reads the miner over your network and shows every chip on a map, with the faults it found.
It reads running miners. It does not test a loose hashboard on the bench. Our PULSE V1 tester is a separate product that tests only Bitmain Antminer hashboards with the 18-pin connector.
What it does
- Chip map coloured by temperature, voltage, work or CRC link-fault score
- Faults listed worst first, each with a next step
- Fleet tab: ranks the Avalon miners in your IP ranges, worst first, and never changes a miner
- Exports a PNG, a per-chip CSV, the snapshot JSON or a PDF service report
- Reads the cgminer API (TCP port 4028) and works out the hashboard layout itself

- On the Windows PC where you will use PulseViewer, click Download for Windows. The file, PulseViewer-1.1.1-setup.exe, usually goes to your Downloads folder. If your browser warns about it, see "If Windows, your browser or antivirus warns".
- If you want, check the file: see "How to check the file".
- Open the file. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", see "If Windows, your browser or antivirus warns".
- Click Next. Read the licence agreement and click I Agree. Keep Only for me and click Next. Keep the folder the setup suggests, or choose another one, and click Install.
- Click Finish. PulseViewer opens: type a miner's IP address. Next time, open "PulseViewer for Avalon" from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut.
If Windows, your browser or antivirus warns
Windows warning. PulseViewer is not code-signed, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info: Windows then shows "Publisher: Unknown publisher". Click Run anyway. Do this only for a copy from pulsetester.com, or a copy whose SHA-256 is the same as the one on this page.
Browser warning. Few people have downloaded the file yet, so Chrome may call it "Suspicious" and Edge may say it "isn't commonly downloaded". Only if you downloaded it from pulsetester.com: open the browser's download list, choose to keep the file, then check its SHA-256 before you open it.
No Run anyway button. On Windows 11 with Smart App Control turned on, Windows blocks apps that are not signed. Some company PCs block them too. PulseViewer cannot be installed or run on those PCs: use another PC.
Antivirus warning. Your antivirus may warn about the file because it is not signed. Do not turn your antivirus off. Check the file's SHA-256 instead: if it is different, delete the file. If it is the same and your antivirus still blocks the file, message us on WhatsApp.
Requirements
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. It does not run on Windows 7, 8 or 8.1.
- An internet connection while it runs, including when it starts. Every 5 minutes it checks its connection with pulsetester.com. From time to time it also loads shop products from there, to show next to its built-in offers. These requests carry no data about your miners. If it cannot reach pulsetester.com, it keeps working for up to 10 minutes after its last good check, then locks until it can reach pulsetester.com again.
- The PC on the same network as the miners, with their API port (TCP 4028) reachable.
- No admin rights needed: in the setup, keep Only for me (it is already selected). If you choose Anyone who uses this computer, Windows asks for admin rights.
- About 370 MB of disk space once installed. Nothing else to install.
What PulseViewer reads from your miners stays on your PC unless you choose to share it.
How to check the file
The SHA-256 checksum lets you check that the file arrived complete and unchanged. It does not prove who made the file.
On a Windows PC: press the Windows key, type PowerShell and press Enter. Copy the line below and paste it into the PowerShell window with Ctrl+V. If you saved the file in another folder, change $env:USERPROFILE\Downloads in the line to that folder. Press Enter. The result must be the same as the SHA-256 under the download button. Upper or lower case does not matter.
If it is different, do not use the file. Delete it, download it again and run the line again.

PULSE tester firmware
Firmware update files for PULSE V1 testers only. Each file works only on the tester model named on its card. Install it only from the tester's Firmware Update page, over the tester's WiFi hotspot.
PULSE V1 (3.5in FULL)
What changed
- A new look for the web UI pages
- A redrawn chip map that fits boards from 55 to 216 chips. The supported boards, and which of them get a chip map, are unchanged.
- An activity list on the test page
- The test page is smaller, so pages should open blank (white) less often. If a page still opens white, reload it.
- The EEPROM page has a new Flash From Local button. It is not yet tested on a hashboard with the 3.5in FULL tester. The Drop Copy button is gone: the copy the tester holds is now cleared when you press Back.
- Known issue: on the S19k Pro test page, if the result says NOT GRADED, ignore the red chips on the chip map and test again.
- Known issue: on the Home page, the S19 (126) and S19 Pro+ cards say BM1366. These boards use BM1362 chips.

- This file is only for the PULSE V1 3.5in FULL tester. Do not install it on any other tester.
- Download the file first, on the phone or computer you will use.
- Connect that phone or computer to the tester's WiFi hotspot, Pulse Tester (the WiFi name and password are on the tester's touch screen). Stay on the hotspot until the update is finished.
- In the browser, open 192.168.4.1 and tap Firmware update at the bottom of the Home page. The page must say "INSTALLED FIRMWARE - 3.5IN FULL TESTER": if it names another tester, stop. Choose the file and press Install update.
- Keep the page open while the tester restarts. The page goes back to the tester's Home page by itself. If it says "Rebooted. Reconnect to Pulse Tester and reload.", connect to the Pulse Tester hotspot again and reload the page.
- Open Firmware update at the bottom of the Home page again: it must show v120 and the build fingerprint 8DD6D9. If it still shows v116, the tester kept its old firmware: install the file again. If it shows v116 again after that, message us on WhatsApp.
- Leave the tester switched on for at least one minute after it shows v120. In that minute, do not switch it off, start a test or change the Connection setting. If you switch it off sooner, it may go back to the old firmware.
- The touch screen may still show the amber line "New firmware on trial: open the web page once" after that minute. To check, press TOOLS on the touch screen, then the back arrow: once the new firmware is kept, the line is gone. If the line is still there, open 192.168.4.1 in the browser once more, wait one minute and check again. Do not switch the tester off while the line is shown. If it is still there after that, message us on WhatsApp.
- If the page says "Update rejected", the tester keeps its old firmware and nothing is harmed. If the reason is "the tester is finishing its last update - retry in a minute", wait a minute and press Install update again. If it is "not newer than the installed firmware", the tester already has v120 or newer: nothing to do. If it is "this file is for another tester model", this file is not for your tester: do not try again. For any other reason, download the file again, check it (see "How to check the file") and install it again. If it is rejected again, message us on WhatsApp.
